Draft Mackay Park Plan of Management on exhibition - submission close Feb 12th

Council is seeking community feedback on a draft Plan of Management for Mackay Park, Batemans Bay. Submissions close Tue 12th February 2019

Council is required under the Local Government Act 1993 to prepare plans of management for its community land. The draft plan outlines how Mackay Park can be used, developed and managed, how leases and licences or other interests are granted, and determines the scale and intensity of development.

The draft plan proposes to re-categorise the land from ‘park’ to ‘general community use’ to provide greater certainty and flexibility for the proposed Batemans Bay Regional Aquatic, Arts and Leisure Centre development.

It features a range of actions centred around Mackay Park’s primary uses now and in the future. These include rugby league, swimming and events. It seeks to integrate the new Regional Aquatic, Arts and Leisure Centre with existing facilities at Mackay Park and the Bateman’s Bay town centre and to promote public access and use; improve vehicle and pedestrian access; and provide direction on the inclusion of public art.

The draft plan along with a frequently asked questions sheet is available for download HERE and in hardcopy for viewing at Council’s Moruya Administration Centre and libraries in Batemans Bay, Narooma and Moruya. The frequently asked questions sheet will be updated in response to enquiries for the duration of the exhibition period.

The former bowling club site is not part of the draft plan.
