First a spike in electricity and next a spike in water - for the same reasons

The Beagle Editor

Over the last few days there’s been media talk about the inevitability of increasing the cost of water to us all similar to what occurred with the electricity pricing rip off of recent years. The reasons for the forecast hefty increases as is claimed will be the need to upgrade ageing infrastructures that haven’t been properly maintained over time or more recent times. The same story was fed to us all about the electricity infrastructure “ Public Assets”. We all know what happened with that don’t we ? Yes our elected state politicians sold us out. !

Getting back the water though, water utility’s – providers like councils have been allowed to take profits from water sales to assist in the bottom line accounts just as the State Government has. The profits or dividends has in effect occurred because over charging was permitted. The overcharged money – income should have been used to properly maintain pipes, reservoirs, dams pumping equipment and everything need to supply water for not only drinking but also agriculture, the nations food supply’s.

That hasn’t been occurring at the present time or for many years. The profits, that should have been used for properly maintaining the public assets has gradually been being provided to grow the size of the highly paid and bloated public sector. What’s been occurring over time in my view amounts to theft from us all by public servants ideals, that includes all our politicians, councillors too who’ve been supporting the process.....
