Albert Ryan Park Toilets

Albert Ryan Park has been sadly neglected in the 2017 draft Recreational Open Space Strategy (ROSS) report, put out by Council for public submissions.

We have until Oct 24th to put in a submission asking that the Albert Ryan Park toilets not be decommissioned and that some kind of maintenance at least be carried out on the toilets and park. We need as many submissions as possible to go in to council to get the toilets at the park, firstly kept and then maintained to a better standard.

The ROSS 2017 draft report acknowledges 34% of the population of the Batemans Bay and Catalina areas are 65 and over. At least 30% of the year traffic in the Batemans Bay’s CBD is congested. This includes the Christmas holidays, Easter and 3 other school holiday periods, not including public holiday weekends.

To get to the toilets at the Village Centre it’s a matter of navigating traffic, trying to find a park in the underground car park then getting up the stairs to the toilets. The same can be said for the toilets on the foreshore. A car park in front of these toilets is impossible to find, so it’s find a park somewhere and walk to the toilets.

For the elderly this is a major setback and can put them off even going to town. Whereas the Albert Ryan Park toilets have easy access right to the front door.

The toilets at Albert Ryan Park are unique in their position and accessibility.

We hope to get this matter resolved sooner rather than later, and need your help in getting it done. The only way this will be achieved is if everyone concerned sends an email or letter to council (council@esc.nsw.gov.au) or to ring the Mayor or Councillor Jack Tait or Councillor Maureen Nathan who are Batemans Bay representative councillors or Councillor Constable or Councillor McGinlay - contact addresses and numbers for all the councillors are below - RING THEM - EMAIL THEM or write to them ) to voice your objection to the toilets being removed, or one day we will drive past and they will be gone.
