Funding Boost for Bridge to Bridge (B2B) event in BBay

FUNDING BOOST FOR Bridge to Bridge (B2B) EVENT IN BATEMANS BAY

Member for Bega Andrew Constance today announced that the region’s newest event, the B2B Challenge will be awarded $20,000 from the NSW Government’s new 2017 Incubator Event Fund.

Mr Constance said the Fund, managed by the State’s tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, assists regional events in their infancy by growing attendance and boosting the local visitor economy.

“Events play an important role in reflecting the unique character of our region and I am delighted that the B2B Challenge will receive funding in Round One of the 2017 Incubator Event Fund,” Mr Constance said.

“This wonderful event will receive support to help deliver a superior visitor experience and raise the event’s profile, driving increased awareness and attendance to Batemans Bay and surrounds.”

“The B2B Challenge consists of a series of paddle based events on the Clyde River and will be held in Batemans Bay on 5 & 6 May 2017.

NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said the festival was one of six successful events in Regional NSW being from January to June 2017 that will receive grants under the new Fund, with another funded event to be held in Bermagui.

“Tourism is booming across our State, with Government support for Regional NSW higher than ever before,” Mr Ayres said.

“This Fund will have a positive impact on local hotels, restaurants, shops and attractions, stimulating tourism across Regional NSW and creating more jobs. I congratulate the event organisers, Batemans Bay Chamber of Commerce & Industry on their successful application which will drive the Regional NSW visitor economy.”

The 2017 Incubator Event Fund offers a one-off annual grant of up to $20,000 to those staging an event for the first or second time to fund elements such as staging, venue hire, research, marketing and publicity activities. Round Two applications for events held in July to December 2017, are due to open in February next year.

The Fund is part of the expanded Regional Flagship Events Program which also includes the Flagship Event Fund and the Event Development Fund. For more information on the Program, go to http://www.destinationnsw.com.au/rfep. Media Release
