Marine Rescue NSW volunteers assist search for missing diver on far South Coast

Volunteers from Marine Rescue Eden have been stood down from a multi-agency search for a missing diver off Lennards Island on the far South Coast.

Marine Rescue NSW Inspector Glenn Sullivan said the Eden unit was called to assist NSW Water Police and rescue helicopters earlier this afternoon.

“Marine Rescue NSW vessel XRAY 30 was deployed to assist with the search after the diver was reported missing around 3.30pm.

“At 5.40pm the Marine Rescue NSW crew was stood down for the day because of poor light.

“The XRAY 30 crew responded quickly and professionally this afternoon,” Inspector Sullivan said.

XRAY 30 will be back on the water tomorrow morning along with Merimbula 31 when the search resumes

“Marine Rescue NSW crews from Eden and Merimbula have been confirmed and they are prepared for a full day search tomorrow,” Inspector Sullivan said.

Marine Rescue NSW is a volunteer based not-for-profit professional organisation dedicated to keeping boaters safe on the water and supporting local communities.
