South Batemans Bay bypass planning underway

The early planning and investigation work for the long awaited missing link to the South Batemans Bay Link Road project in now underway with the Member for Bega, Andrew Constance, confirming the NSW Government has provided $30 million for the development and delivery of the connection of the Link Road with the Princes Highway just south of Batemans Bay.

“Survey, geotechnical and preliminary environmental investigation work is being carried out to identify locations of utilities, and determine the types of soil, geology, plants and animals within the project area,” Mr Constance said.

“Once complete, this work will inform early design options for a safe and efficient connection to the Princes Highway.

“Connecting the Link Road to the Princes Highway will offer an alternative route to the various residential areas and beaches south of Batemans Bay CBD and will take pressure off Beach Road, particularly during peak traffic times and holiday periods.”

“This project will have significant benefits to the region, opening up new opportunities and future growth potential.

“$10 million provided by the NSW Government has enabled Eurobodalla Shire Council to complete stage one of the works, with the construction of Glenella Road now finalised.

Eurobodalla Shire Council has played a leading vital role in continued advocacy of this project.

Project investigations are currently being carried out along both Ridge Road and the Princes Highway on weekdays between 7am and 6pm and are expected to continue until early 2020.

This work will have minimal impact to traffic but motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, pay attention and follow the directions of signs for the safety of workers and road users.

Motorists will be advised of any changed traffic conditions or extended work hours as they occur.
