It’s anchors aweigh at the Nelligen boat ramp, with work underway on a new car and boat parking area.
Eurobodalla Council’s construction crews have begun work at the southern end of Wharf Street, building 16 additional spaces for boat-trailer parking.
Eurobodalla Council’s director of infrastructure Warren Sharpe said a new service road would connect the additional parking space south of the existing boat parking area.
“Thanks to a $360,000 grant from the NSW Government’s Boating Now program, we can formalise the first stage of the boat parking needed to service this popular boat ramp. Lots of people already use the grass area and these works will ensure people can park and use the area safely,” he said.
“We’ve clustered the new parking in a way which helps support local shops and makes the best use of existing toilets and foreshore facilities.
“This work is another example of Council working with the community and the NSW Government to ensure our residents and the shire’s many visitors have the facilities to enjoy this beautiful part of the world.”
Disruption to vehicles and pedestrians should be minimal, with neither boat ramp nor existing car park expected to be affected during the new car park’s construction.
