$30 Million To Connect The South Batemans Bay Link Road And The Princes Highway

L to R: RMS Southern Region Manager Sam Knight, Eurobodalla Shire Infrastructure Director Warren Sharpe, Member for Bega Andrew Constance, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Eurobodalla Shire Mayor Liz Innes.

The NSW Government has committed to funding a new intersection, which will connect the South Batemans Bay Link Road with the Princes Highway.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the South Batemans Bay Link Road currently stops a few hundred metres short of the Princes Highway and the NSW Government is investing $30 million to connect it with a new intersection.

“We know this intersection is an important project that will benefit the local community and its many visitors, which is why the NSW Government is getting on with the job of making it happen,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“The planning work and the development of the design for the new intersection are already being carried out and construction will begin as fast as possible.”

Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said the project will deliver significant travel time improvements for the local community by alleviating congestion in the Batemans Bay CBD.

“By completing the intersection it will also offer an alternative route to the CBD during any work, closure, or events on Beach Road,” Mr Constance said. The Premier finished the announcement with a firm undertaking “My message to the RMS is to get cracking. The money is there and we want this done as quickly as possible”. The final planning and construction for "The Missing Link" as it has become popularly known will be carried out by the RMS with contractors.

“The investment ensures this area receives the necessary infrastructure investment to support the region’s growth and I am proud of this Government’s record of investment.”

In 2014, the NSW Government invested $10 million to the Eurobodalla Shire Council to build the South Batemans Bay Link Road to manage traffic growth in the area.
