Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden Photo Competition Images now on display

The annual photographic competition at the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden is now open and has already received high praise. “Every year it just gets better and better” one early visitor declared.

This year saw a record 260 entries received from local, regional and interstate photographers; and then came the difficult task of culling some of the entries simply because of lack of space! This year, with the addition of extra display stands, organisers were able to select, frame and mount a record 204 entries, many more than in previous years.

The entries are in four categories; Wildlife, Flora, Landscape and a new category featuring Contemporary photos, and each category features some outstanding images of the Garden.

Volunteers from the Gardens and members of the Eurobodalla Photographic Club combined forces to prepare the exhibition which is open to the public until Saturday 6th October.

This year’s judge was very impressed by the high standard of entries. “I would so love to make many more awards; so many entries are deserving of special merit” he said.

The exhibition is a joint venture between Eurobodalla Council and the Friends of the Garden and is now one of the event highlights of the year. But its success is due to the high standard of entries and the great band of helpers who have again worked together to collate and exhibit a stunning number of entries which showcase the Garden to great effect.

Organisers again appreciate the tremendous support of local businesses who have sponsored each month of the calendar and provided the prizemoney for winning entries.

Visitors are encouraged to nominate their favourite photos for the People’s Choice Award, and many of these will then feature on the 2019 calendar which will be launched at the Awards Night on Friday 26th October.

The Awards Night is open to anyone who would like to attend but you need to contact the Visitor’s Centre on 4471 2544 if you intend attend for catering purposes.

The exhibition is open from 9am – 4.00pm Wednesday to Sunday and every day during the coming school holidays.

NOTE: Comments were TRIALED - in the end it failed as humans will be humans and it turned into a pile of merde; only contributed to by just a handful who did little to add to the conversation of the issue at hand. Anyone who would like to contribute an opinion are encouraged to send in a Letter to the Editor where it might be considered for publication
