Nelligen's Ben Williams named 2018 Outstanding Apprentice in the ACT in his category

Ben Williams, 22-year, of Nelligen has been named 2018 Outstanding Apprentice in the ACT in Engineering Fabrication – Metals Light – for the Construction Industry Training Council.

Above: Ben Williams with his award.

Apprenticed to Vision Windows and Railing in Batemans Bay Ben achieved three years of TAFE in about two years undertaking a Certificate 3 in light metal engineering and fabrication.

Encouraged into the trade by his proud grandparents Bob and June Williams, Ben developed his love of fabrication at an early age working around their farm with welding projects beginning at the age of 12.

Ben’s mum, Shellee, is understandably proud of her son’s accomplishments and thankful that the skills Ben has learnt will enable him to remain in the region and to see his skills returned to his community while so many of the Shire’s youth are forced to leave the area to pursue employment and careers.
