Clr. Anthony Mayne's request for a ''LICK OF PAINT''

Earlier this year our group Save Albert Ryan Park approached Clr's McGinlay, Mayne and Constable to place rescission motion on the priority listing in Councils ROSS report on the upgrade of ALbert Ryan Park to incorporate disable toilets etc., whilest the motion was defeated thankfully Clr, Mayne asked that the toilet block at ARP be given a "lick of paint'' and thankfully the internal walls of our little toilet block at our much beloved park has received this much needed lick.

Unfortunately whilest the walls and the milestone received a ''paint job'' the toilet doors were left untouched.

Given our Mayor's recent motion to investigate "Culture Arts" in this shire our group sent a email with the photos of these toilet doors to all of the Councillors and asked if these doors would be consider an ''art form' given the prime and pristine location of this toilet block.

After receiving and acknowledgement from all of the Councillors that they had read the email with the attached photos we the sent a second email to all Councillors reminding them that they set the standards for this shire and given that the rate payers had received their most recent rates notice with the rate increases we suggest that an addition tin of paint be purchased to address the unfinshed toilet doors and the cost could be taken from our own rate increase.

Our group received an email from the Mayor thanking us for drawing their attention to this and our continued efforts for the shire, attached to the email was a photo of the painted doors. There was advice from Director Sharpe to our Mayor that ''they could not keep diverting resources to repainting toilets'', surely the facts are ''get it right the first time'' rather than sending a painter back to finish the job. Whilest the painted doors are an improvement a contrasting colour perhaps in a light grey would have improved the interior look of the toilets and also help to camouflage any future marks.

At a Council meeting earlier this year we raised the fact that at a Community Forum Meeting in October 2015 we had asked the previous Mayor for signs to be erected on all Public Toilets advertising an after hours number should there be a need to report issues pertaining to the toilets the Mayor in 2015 stated ''consider it done". We now would like to acknowledge that finally some 3 years on the signs have been erected (better late than never}.

Our group continues to endeavor to have this park upgraded for the benefit of locals and tourist to the area as it sits in such a pristine location on Beach Road.

Thank you again to Clr. Mayne for his initial request for the ''lick of paint".
