Wake up Council: Local dogs locked out for no apparent reason

Dear Beagle Editor,

Can anyone explain why the Eurobodalla Shire Council (ESC) considered it reasonable to grant the Sporting Shooters of Australia (SSAA), organisers of the recent HuntFest, seven days access to NATA oval in Narooma for their two-day event? (see attached photo)

As a dog owner I like to give my dog off-leash exercise on NATA oval every day that I can, a privilege we both enjoy. This wasn’t possible on those seven days because the SSAA padlocked the main gate open even though they appeared not to use the oval at all on Wednesday 6th, Thursday 7th or Tuesday 12th June.

Is there no limit to the lengths to which the ESC will go to grant the SSAA whatever they want regardless of the wishes of residents?
