Labor Candidate for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips, is calling on Ann Sudmalis to take the $65 billion tax handout for multinationals and the four banks out of the Budget in just over a fortnight’s time. New figures released today show the big four banks will be the biggest beneficiaries of Ann Sudmalis and Malcolm Turnbull’s $65 billion tax handout. The big four banks at the centre of the rorts, rip-offs and scandals exposed during the Royal Commission will reap $13.2 billion of the Liberal’s $65 billion big business tax handout. Following on from revelations in the banking royal commission, Mrs Sudmalis said on ABC Illawarra to a listener: Far out, those tax cuts are not aimed at banks and institutions…” (ABC Illawarra, Friday 20th April 2018) “Ann Sudmalis is wrong. It beggars belief that after all their scandalous behaviour that Ann Sudmalis and Malcolm Turnbull would hand the big banks $13.2 billion to boost their profits”, Fiona said. “That’s tax money that people in Gilmore pay – going towards $13.2 billion for the four big banks. That’s just not fair for people struggling to make ends meet in Gilmore”, Fiona continued. “We’ve got hospitals on the South Coast with extensive waiting lists, bed block, the highest youth unemployment in NSW, schools that need fair funding now and TAFE that desperately needs a guarantee of public funding. And what does Ann Sudmalis do? – gives a $13.2 billion tax handout for the four big banks. Ann Sudmalis and her Liberal Government’s priorities are all wrong”, Fiona said. “I call on Ann Sudmalis and Malcolm Turnbull to take their $65 billion tax handout for multinationals and the big four banks out of the Budget in just over a fortnight’s time”, Fiona concluded.
