National Open Pastel Exhibition Now OPEN

Mayor Liz Innes and Andrew Constance MP have officially opened National Open Pastel Exhibition and award the two top awards. The exhibition runs from until 27 th April with opening hours 10am – 4pm daily and is being held at the Batemans Bay Surf Lifesaving Club, Malua Bay. Grace Paleg South Coast Pastel Society member, finalist, master pastellist and fellow of the Australian Guild of Realist artists has won over 200 art awards to date. After studying graphic design and oils she changed to pastel medium in 1988. She opened her fine art studio in Surf Beach in 1996 where she continues to teach local students and groups bringing 50 years experience to those participating in her workshops. This golden opportunity to join Grace in her workshop “Landscape Impossible” on Thursday 26 th April at 40 Tasman Street Surf Beach where you will learn to create ‘’the landscape you’ve’ dreamt about’ where colour, shape, light and glow will be taught thus capturing that impossible landscape. The cost for non- members is $80 and members $70. To register contact Lyn on 0448496998 or email southcoastpastelsociety1@gmail.com to secure your place as there are only a few spaces left. As the school holidays are here and parents are seeking an alternative activity for their children or grandchildren why not bring them along to join other children at our free “Kids Pavement” painting morning on Monday 23 rd April 10am-12 noon where fun is the order of the morning. Children and young at heart can join but those under age 6 should be accompanied by an adult and all children are encouraged to wear older clothes. Not only will we ask our visitors to vote for their favourite art work, votes tallied at the end of the exhibition for the Peoples Choice award but on offer is 3 amazing prizes in our raffle which will be drawn at the end of the exhibition.
