Fiona Phillips: Ann Sudmalis Is Driving Unemployment In Batemans Bay And Moruya

In response to the media release issued today by Member for Gilmore Ann Sudmalis Labor's Candidate for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips, says the only thing Ann Sudmalis is driving is unemployment, and it’s going up, up, up. Since Ann Sudmalis was re-elected in 2016, unemployment in Batemans Bay has gone from 9 per cent to 13.1 per cent, and is now more than double the national average, and at crisis levels. Unemployment in Moruya/Tuross Head has gone from 7 per cent to 8.8 per cent. Youth unemployment has skyrocketed under Ann Sudmalis and remains the highest in NSW and one of the highest rates in Australia. There’s been a 34 per cent decline in apprenticeships and traineeships in Gilmore, that’s 910 fewer – since the Liberal Government was elected in 2013. When Michaelia Cash came to town we heard first hand how the Government’s $750 million Youth Jobs PaTH program delivered “one” job, further north in Nowra. Ann Sudmalis has failed the people of Batemans Bay and Moruya.
