An update on Supporting Albert Ryan Park’s progess...

Supporting Albert Ryan Park

At our last informal meeting we received the good news that as key members of our Group also belong to the Clyde River and Batemans Bay Historical Society Inc., the project can operate as a Society sub-committee. This will give us the structure to continue our efforts to keep Albert Ryan Park as a unique open space.

We also received an email from council updating us on the progress of the Park and amenities and the RMS issues.

Firstly.. on 20th November 2017 the Certificate of Title for lot 11 was returned to Lands Registry Services office and will continue to be under the control and care of council.

Secondly.. The ROSS 2010 and Public Toilet Review documents have been updated. The Public toilet Review addendum now shows that Albert Ryan Park toilet is not to be removed (and also Appendix B maps)

Thirdly.. The ROSS 2018 will be going to council with a recommendation to adopt on the 27th February. Once the ROSS 2018 is adopted it will be the guiding recreation document and will replace the ROSS 2010. The Specific action in relation to Albert Ryan Park is N14. It reads

Consult with the community about future design, layout and maintenance of Albert Ryan Park and Rotary Park in Batemans Bay.

This has been given a medium priority rating which means work could be done within 5 years

Our group is pleased that we have reached this stage, as the retention of the toilets on the Park was critical to its future existence. Thanks in part to a lot of people, from those who were in the campaign from the beginning to our group today. All in some way have contributed.

We now hope to work with council on the Parks future design. Something the community has wanted for a long time.
