Safety will be improved on the Princes Highway about four kilometres south of Bodalla, with work to start on a 400 metre section of highway at the end of the month.
Member for Bega Andrew Constance said the NSW Government has provided $760,000 to widen the road shoulders and install a median safety barrier.
“In the five years to June 2015 there were four crashes on this stretch of the Princes Highway, which resulted in six injuries and one fatality,” Mr Constance said.
“Most of the crashes on this section of highway occurred on curves. Widening the road shoulders and installing a median safety barrier will help improve safety for road users.”
Work is expected to start at the end of this month and will take about three months to complete, weather permitting.
“Once work is complete, the right turn into and out of C Ridge Road onto the Princes Highway will be removed, due to the location of the safety barrier,” Mr Constance said.
