Batemans Bay Toastmasters Club News

Batemans Bay Toastmasters, Moruya Toastmasters and Bega Valley Toastmasters celebrated the achievement of Amanda Annabel when she received her award as Area Director of the Year Award for 2016/2017 in District 70. Considering there are 38 Area Directors in the 6 Divisions of District 70 this is a great achievement for Amanda. District 70 covers areas from Parramatta to the Victorian border, and west to the South Australian border.

As Director, Amanda liaises with the clubs in Area 29. Each club in the Area consults firstly with the Area Director, who works with the Division Director and the District Management Committee for assistance on any structure a club may need advice on. This assistance could involve club support for low membership numbers, venue advice, promotion and advertising; and includes communicating with Toastmasters International.

In selecting this award the District 70 selection committee considers a Director’s input and activity within the District. Amanda’s points for this award were assisted by her organising the successful District Semi-Annual Conference in Batemans Bay in 2016, as well as attending 5 division contests as a Judge, whilst promoting the Conference.

Amanda’s involvement in Toastmasters spans 16 years and she attributes her years in Toastmasters to the joy in seeing others blossom and a personal desire to be the best that she can be. Today she sees Toastmasters as an ideal training and development environment and recommends anyone to join Toastmasters to improve their communication skills.

On behalf of District 70, Program Quality Director John Jennings presented Amanda with her award.
