Perfect weather for the first race of the season

Perfect weather greeted the sailors for their first races of the season at Coila Lake. They will be racing fortnightly on Sundays, and hope more boats will join them.

First around the course and winner on yardstick was Tony Hastings’ Paper Tiger catamaran.

First monohull around the course was Darren Lydiard’s International Canoe.

As these were visitors from the Wallagoot Lake Boat Club, they are not eligible to be included in the official results.

First local around the course was Ben Woolnough and his daughter Anna, on their Maricat.

However, the series is scored with a handicap system, so Allan Rees and Thomas Schild were declared the winners, on their Windrush 600.

“The real reason that we were all winners, is because we were the ones out there sailing, wind in the hair, spray flying, having a blast,” Tony Hastings said.
