Council hosting free Family Day Care business information sessions

Community members can learn how to combine their passion for children with a rewarding professional home-based career at free information sessions next month.

Eurobodalla Council is hosting free Family Day Care small business information sessions to provide advice on how to join the professional network of Family Day Care.

Family Day Care is an approved form of child care for small groups of children, between the ages of birth to 12, provided in the Family Day Care educator’s home.

Eurobodalla Council coordinates Family Day Care in Eurobodalla, however educators are self-employed, not council employees.

Council’s Coordinator Children and Family Services Louise Hatton said Council was seeking more educators throughout the shire to meet demand.

“Family Day Care represents an excellent opportunity to work from home, build a successful business and earn an income,” she said.

“Educators should be energetic, reliable and can support different family types from diverse cultures and lifestyles.

“They are empathetic, compassionate, flexible and professional.”

The information sessions at Narooma, Moruya and Batemans Bay will feature expert advice from TAFE representatives, business experts and Council’s children’s services team.

Topics will include the required qualifications, legal obligations to work in the sector, practical ideas on setting up a business and how to get started.

The sessions will be held:

  • Monday 3 July, 5pm-7pm at Club Narooma, 88 Princes Highway, Narooma

  • Wednesday 5 July, 10am-12pm at Moruya Golf Club, Evans Street, Moruya

  • Wednesday 5 July, 5pm-7pm at Club Catalina, 154 Beach Road, Batemans Bay
