NSW Drivers Benefit From Healthlink Service

More than 550 people have so far taken advantage of Roads and Maritime Services’ new digital solution which streamlines medical assessments for driver licences. A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said HealthLink was launched in early March to streamline the licence process for motorists who have to submit medical assessments each year. “The initiative will save time and paperwork for the 450,000 NSW drivers who submit medical assessments each year via post or in person at a registry or service centre.” “It also means medical cases can be reviewed a lot faster, as the ‘Fitness to Drive’ form is electronically submitted to Roads and Maritime for immediate review.” Medical practitioners at more than than 2,000 sites across NSW have access to the medical assessment form via their electronic clinical software. Rozelle doctor Margot Woods said the new service is easy to use and those who don’t have a practice software system can submit forms via HealthLink’s Portal interface. “It was a pleasure to use the HealthLink tool, as it saves the patient from travelling to a registry or service centre and is quicker for me to fill out.” “Another time saving benefit of HealthLink is the record remains in the GP patient record, so the doctor can see what they submitted previously.” For more information on the HealthLink service visit http://www.healthlink.net/en_AU/rmsnsw/training-materials/.
