Changed Traffic Conditions For Testing Of Batemans Bay Bridge Lift Span

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Princes Highway at Batemans Bay bridge next Tuesday for testing work to be carried out on the bridge lift span. Commences between 8pm and midnight on Tuesday 4 April, weather permitting.

Work will be carried out to improve the reliability of the bridge opening system and to train the bridge operators.

Last year a full mechanical and electrical upgrade of the bridge was carried out, with ongoing upgrades completed in the past six months to improve safety.

Due to the ongoing upgrades, bridge operators will now have one night of training a month to ensure any incidents experienced with the lift system can be fixed quickly, reducing delays for motorists and marine traffic.

The first night of training and bridge testing will be carried out between 8pm and midnight on Tuesday 4 April, weather permitting.

Motorists are advised to plan their journey, with delays of up to 15 minutes expected as testing takes place.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

Roads and Maritime Services thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out.
