Your Pets In An Emergency

Writer's picture: The BeagleThe Beagle

If you suddenly became ill and were taken to hospital, what would happen to your pets?

This is something everyone should plan for. Several recent incidents in Eurobodalla Shire have highlighted the need to prepare for the unexpected, and make sure your fur babies are looked after should you be unable to do so.

Firstly, talk to your neighbours, friends and family, and try to establish who might care for your animals in an emergency. Leave the contact details of this person in a prominent place in your home, along with details of your pets, a list of any medication they are on, and where to find that medication.

Secondly, and this is very important, make sure your pets’ vaccinations are up to date. This allows the option of getting them straight away to a boarding kennel if there is no one else to care for them.

By taking these basic precautions, you will at least know that your loved pets are being looked after should you unexpectedly be unable to do so.
