When social distancing is blatantly ignored

The Beagle Editor, I have watched the local community through these trying times of late and when it comes to the corona virus and social isolation its been good to see most locals doing the right thing to help protect their fellow residents but the question has to be asked of the authorities for firstly allowing a massive influx of Canberrans and secondly not monitoring what exactly most of them were up too. Last week in Canberra the police, print media and also social media told Canberrans that they weren't really permitted to come to the coast for this reconciliation long weekend and to abide by the guidelines put in place to keep us all safe but the weekend showed that a great number of them took absolutely no notice whatsoever as they flooded in to Broulee and Tuross. It's bad enough that these people show blatant disregard for authority by coming in the first place with such self centred selfish attitudes and complete disregard for those of us that do live here but on the weekend I took a drive to have a look for myself and was absolutely blown away by what I saw so many doing. On Saturday I witnessed three families numbering up to eighteen people meet in the street and nearly every one of them embraced and hugged with the other parties and across the road at the coffee spot there were literally a hundred of them sitting around basically on top of each other. As I drove across Candlagan Creek there was non stop Canberra regos all the way to Carters store with lots of disregard being shown for social distancing laws. In fact on one corner there was a group of at least twenty teenage females who were all over each other. Everywhere we went went it was just so obviously wrong.I don’t own the place and don’t want it for locals only but what is it with these idiots that allows them to be so damn reckless and have such disregard for the health of those of us that do call it home when there is one of the most dangerous health issues confronting us all like never before seen. By allowing this behavior to go on unchecked has turned the normal dislike of so many tourist attitudes into out and out hatred of them and is not healthy for anyone but the question must be asked which is why was this influx and behavior  allowed to happen when apparently we have laws in place to stop it.
