BECOMING a member of Moruya Probus Club presents no problems committee members agreed at their July meeting, held at Moruya Gold Club on Tuesdays.

Members said they’d found that people interested in joining believed they would have to give talks of some sort and felt such concerns were preventing some from joining. So the message is going out that is not the case.

Membership is open to retired and semi-retired people and offers them fun, friendship and fellowship. Members attend monthly meetings and may participate in a wide range of activities as well as hearing guest speakers on a wide range of subjects.

There are many other advantages in being a member of Probus. Apart from meeting new friends, and sometimes some old ones, there are opportunities of being involved in outings. There are discounts for some members with restaurants and hotels and more reasonable travel insurance rates that seniors may otherwise be offered.

Moruya Probus meets at Moruya Golf Club at ten-o’clock on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

Anyone considering membership should call president Di Montgomerie on 4471 8629.

Tuesday’s Committee meeting was a short one due to the Christmas In July luncheon being held at Tomakin Sports and Social Club. There was some discussion about the possibilities of joining other local Probus Club’s for outings, such as one planned to the Southern Highlands by Tollgate Club in the spring.

Members were told that the guest speaker at the monthly meeting, on July 23, will be Max Wangeman, his topic: Backpacking in Europe.
