Public meetings will be held in May to elect the committees that manage Broulee Tennis Club, Moruya Showground, Kyla Park Community Hall and Tuross Memorial Gardens.

Eurobodalla Council works with its Community Facility Management Committees to utilise the expertise within the shire and involve the community in Council operations and decision-making.

Council’s recreation coordinator Tina Smith said membership comprised user group representatives as well as interested volunteers, with elections held at the beginning of each Council term.

“Council works together with its Community Facility Management Committees to ensure efficient and effective operation of some of Eurobodalla’s venues,” she said.

“Our volunteer committee members care for each facility, oversee promotion, events and fundraising and liaise with Council about required maintenance and upgrades.

“Existing committee members have worked tirelessly during what has been an unusually long term due to the postponements of the local government election.

“Many hands make light work, so I encourage anyone interested in taking a greater role in caring for these community facilities to express their interest.”

Public meetings for the election of the committees will be held at each facility in May: Tuross Memorial Gardens on Monday 16 May at 2pm, Moruya Showgrounds on Monday 16 May at 6pm, Kyla Park Community Hall on Thursday 19 May at 4pm, and at Broulee Tennis Club on Tuesday 31 May at 10am.

Community members interested in nominating for a position can simply attend the relevant meeting or submit an expression of interest prior to the meeting to Council’s coordinator recreation development, Tina Smith at tina.smith@esc.nsw.gov.au
