Ute and bike at 167km on the Kings highway

About 11:40am on Saturday 25th January 2020, 2 HWP police were conducting stationary speed enforcement along a stretch of the Kings Highway, Currowan that is a sign posted 90kph zone.

Police observed an orange Triumph Daytona motorcycle and green Holden Commodore utility travelling eastbound side by side.

Police could hear the sound of the motor vehicles engines as their revs increased. Police estimated the speeds of the vehicles to be no less that 130kph and increasing rapidly.

Police were of the belief that the two vehicles were travelling in such a manner that neither vehicle was yielding to the other and that they were in fact racing to the end of the overtaking lanes.

Police checked the speed of the utility at a peak of 167kph. Police will allege the speed of the motorcycle was exceeding the speed of the utility as it overtook in lane 2 of 2.

Police stopped both vehicles where they were both issued with Court Attendance Notices for 'Take Part in Street Race' to attend Batemans Bay Local Court 24th Feb 2020.

Their NSW Driving Privileges were suspended and both vehicles seized. STH234 / STH235
