U3A Batemans Bay has been providing courses and social activities for over 50s in the Eurobodalla Shire for more than 20 years. As an organization we are unique in that every person involved, including the committee and the tutors, is a volunteer. Our tutors are members who offer their time, knowledge and interests to others, and this helps us keep the cost of participating extremely low. The annual membership fee (currently $40), entitles you to participate in as many different courses as you wish.
There are over 60 different activities offered this semester at a variety of venues throughout the shire. Activities are classified under the broad headings of History and Culture, Science, Literary Activities, Languages, Arts and Crafts, Recreational Activities, Physical Activities and General Interest. There are nine Book Groups, five wine appreciation groups, and a multitude of other activities, details of which can be found on our website http://bbay.u3anet.org.au or in our printed program which is available in all the Shire libraries.
The annual Registration Day is being held at the Batemans Bay Community Centre on Thursday 23 January 2020 from 9:30 to 11.30 am. This is a great event where our 650 plus members come along to renew their membership, if they haven’t done it online, talk to tutors, enroll in classes and chat to friends, all while they are enjoying a sumptuous morning tea. For anyone who is interested in finding out more about our courses you are most welcome on this day. As well as being a terrific social event Registration Day offers everyone the best opportunity to enroll in the courses they want as priority is given to those who attend this day.
We have an amazing program on offer in 2020. There is something to please everyone and certainly far too many to mention here, but anyone interested should go to our website and access the newsletter which contains the course program and an easy schedule indicating the time and day.
Members can use the online facilities on our website http://bbay.u3anet.org.au. to renew their membership before Registration Day. If you are looking to become a member for the first time, then click “Join U3A” and follow the instructions provided. Those who pay online can avoid the queues and go straight to the hall where the tutors are ready t o take your enrolments.
Online Course enrolments will be available from Tuesday 28 January.
