Tuross Women Bowlers head to Forster this weekend.

At long last the NSW State Women’s Pennant bowls finals are being played at Forster - Tuncurry on the Mid – North Coast.

They were meant to be played at Pottsville last September, but were suspended due to issues with the pandemic .

The Tuross Head Country Club team will play in the Pennant 2 division next Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd March at Forster Bowling Club. This is a big competition made up of 14 teams of 8 women in 4 sections from across the state of NSW. Tuross are in Section 1 and will play against Sawtell on Monday, then Asquith and Tuncurry Beach on the Tuesday.

The winners of each section will play in the semi-final on Wednesday 23rd morning and then the two winners of that will play to claim the coveted Pennant 2 flag, in the final on Wednesday afternoon.

The Tuross Ladies have been practising hard with several good competitive games against some of our male bowlers on a Tuesday. Last Thursday we were invited to play against a strong team from Malua Bay Bowling Club. We are grateful for the friendship and good sportsmanship of our friends at Malua Bay to make time for this practice. We have been fortunate to get these games in, considering the unstable weather conditions we have experienced.

We all wish the Tuross ladies lots of success at the special State event. Most importantly we hope they enjoy the experience of playing in the event at Forster while making new connections with many other ladies from across NSW.

The team would like to thank everyone in the community who has enabled us to get this far by supporting our fund-raising efforts, raffles and fun-days as well as the wonderful Easter Fair.
