Under threatening skies with a low morning temperature and strong wind, fifty eight players registered for Wednesday's Tuross Head Veterans Golf Single Stableford event. Winner on the day was Tuross Head Vets President Ian Manton returning to form with a good score of 25 points for the 9 holes played. Ian was followed home by Steve Johnston on only his third game back after a knee replacement with a score of 24, Ross Davidson on 23, and finally Richard Wharton on count back with 22. Minor prizes went to Robert McKirdy on 22, Herb Muriwai, Greg Smith, Bruce Martin and Teri Swanbury with 21, Derek Hoare, Len Rogers, David Williams and Frank Pomfret on 20, and finally in order of count backs, Jeanette Miller, Steve Collins and Bruce Smith with scores of 19. Mike Birks clearly struggled under the prevailing conditions and was this week's winner of the infamous Bradman award.
