CLOSE FINISH IN FINAL VETS GAME FOR 2019
Sixty one players teed off under very smoky skies for the final Vets event for 2019, a Stroke and Putts game. Scores were excellent with good run on the course due to the dry conditions with no rain and limited recycled water available.
Overall winner on the day was Lance Shadbolt with 26 strokes nett on count back from Ray Downey on the same score. Third was Greg Ware on 27 followed home by Terry Lunn on 29 on count back.
Balls or chocolates were won by Barry Hoban the count back loser on 29, Sandra Hanlon, and Margaret Downey on 30, Lyn Benger, Robin Green, David Williams, Greg Bush and Richard Wharton on 31, and then Des Jackson, Stephen Crossling, Kevin Dukes and Ian Wratten on 32. Having lost as winner on count back, Ray Downey won a count back for the putting competition with 12 putts for 9 holes played.
The Bradman award went to Andrew Gordon returning from a long lay off and not playing to his best form. Nearest the pins went to Frank Pomfret on the 4th, visitor Michael Adair on the 6th, and to Lyn Benger (in the hole) and Kevin Dukes on the 7th. Frank Pomfret topped off the day with the Accuracy drive award on the 5th.
