There was great jubilation last week, when the Division 4 team returned from Bermagui. They completed the final game of the 2022/23 pennant competition by being the outright winners. They were ably led by experienced skips Jenny Madden and Carol Williams. For several individuals of the team, it was the first time they had played in a pennant competition. To be on top of the ladder was an extra thrill for them.
Even with three regular team members being unavailable for the final round, the current strength of Tuross Women’s Bowling Club was evident as the three substitute players, Pat Wagstaff, and new bowlers, Jenny Marks and Stephanie Dennett were able to assist the team to a good win against Bermagui. Congratulations ladies.
On Tuesday 11th October, District President Vicki Herman will present the pennant flag to the team at an unfurling ceremony. All members of the Tuross Head Women’s Bowling Club will be in uniform on this day, making a Guard of Honour to celebrate the club’s success. Each team member will also be presented with a pennant badge from the District .
The team will now play in the Regional playoff against teams from Bega/Imlay District and Snowy Mountains District. This will be played at Tuross Head Country Club the following week. The Other District sides present will be Malua Bay Blue who won the 2’s and Dalmeny who won the 3’s. This will be a great spectator event for all who would like to join us at our beautiful greens on the day. You can be assured of quality bowls.
We will publish a whole team photo at a later date.
