The next swarm of councillors.

The Beagle Editor, Article today in AFR , University study indicates that prestigious private schools in Melbourne have too many power seeking alumni on their school boards. The outcome of this is that far too much power has gone to the principal. Far more diversity on school boards is recommended. The resultant dysfunction has resulted in many unfortunate outcomes including a situation where a Board Chair and a Principal had to resign over a student haircut. It all rings a bell at the ESC, perhaps we should not get too excited about candidates who know their way around the corridors. Some of our longer serving members seem very close to crazy decisions on pools, restricting Public Forum and increasing rates which are created by senior staff. We need to choose independent , can do thinkers, not puppets of the present lot of the executive staff. Diversity and grey matter is needed. Owen Cartledge
