The Eurobodalla Councillors are way out of their depth and floundering

The Beagle Editor, Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council Mayor Tim Overall today to announce $1 million has been secured to move ahead with the major upgrade to the Braidwood Memorial Pool. The Braidwood pool consists of a solar-heated 18m swimming pool and toddler pool. There is also change rooms, toilets, showers, shaded areas, seating, kiosk and bins

The pool, just like the Batemans Bay 50m pool was built in 1966 however, the facilities, like the Batemans Bay pool, are in major need of a makeover.

With one million dollars the QPRC say they can now to move ahead with its plans for a range of upgrades to take place including the installation of solar heating.

Stage one is going to see the entire facility modernised, with the change rooms and kiosk set to undergo a major makeover as well to deliver a modernised amenities block with disability and family friendly facilities, replacing the current change rooms which are outdated and not enclosed.

With the one million dollars the kiosk will also undergo major improvement works, with the option being explored of making it a year-round facility to service the adjacent Ryrie Park and it’s recently upgraded playground.

Meantime the QPRC continues current work to reseal and retile the pool. For thirty years the Batemans Bay community have been working their butts off to get a heated pool. Now it looks like they are going to get one. And what are they getting? A 5m x 8m heated pool that has a depth of 1.4m that you can't even tread water in. Just imagine if they had been given one million to build what they are building in Braidwood. Imagine if they had 2 million dollars. The sad bit is that the Eurobodalla council manipulated the heated pool group to endorse a fifty one million dollar white elephant. How much would it have cost to leave the Mini Golf where it is (how much did it cost to buy them out?), fix up the 50m pool (if Queanbeyan Council can reseal and retile then why can't Eurobodalla?). How much would it have cost to put the 50m pool under cover with a solar panel roof? How much would it cost have to modernise the change rooms? And how much would it have cost to add a bigger heated pool at the southern end? Bet you there would have been change from the $18 million that Council got in March 2018. Eurobodalla community. Look north to what we have at Ulladulla as an example of what money can buy. Even the construction of 25 m x 6 lane indoor heated swimming pool in Sussex only cost 1.5 million The Eurobodalla Councillors are way out of their depth and floundering.
