Teenager dies, another injured in single-vehicle car crash – South Coast

Sunday, 07 February 2021 05:32:14 PM Inquiries are continuing into a single-vehicle crash on the South Coast last night in which a teenager died. About 2:50am (Sunday 7 February 2021), officers from Batemans Bay Highway Patrol were on routine patrol on the Princes Highway at Benandarah when they located a Ford Falcon sedan crashed into a tree and on fire. The fire was extinguished by police, and a female passenger was located with serious injuries inside the car. A short time later, officers located the body of the driver, a 16-year-old boy. The injured passenger, a 17-year-old girl, was extracted from the vehicle about 5am and airlifted to Canberra Hospital with serious injuries. Officers from South Coast Police District established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
