Successful Combined Men’s and Women’s Bowls Christmas Party

Writer's picture: The BeagleThe Beagle

After many years of celebrating the end of year Christmas party as a women’s only event, the present committee decided to invite the male bowlers to join them this year for a combined Christmas fun event.

This proved to be a very successful initiative.

On Tuesday 14th December, 57 members attended the celebration. Traditionally the women members have dressed up in costumes pertaining to a letter of the alphabet. This has always created such frivolity and excitement. This year the dress code was the “Letter K” or Christmas attire and many members got in the mood and dressed up.

Members arrived in their costumes, to be provided with a beautiful Christmas morning tea, including champagne and fruit punch. This was followed by a “Joe’s Special” game of bowls.

A beautiful BBQ lunch was held after the bowls in the downstairs area of Club Tuross. A big thankyou to the able cooks, Greg Thornton, Colin Fletcher and John Fahey who assisted. The women provided delicious salads and sweets.

A total of 16 lucky door prizes were given out. We had the fun of a “chicken dinner” spinning wheel and a Christmas raffle, creating lots of opportunities to take home a prize.

President Doreen Monks chose the three best costume winners. Congratulations to Pam Mazzucchelli (King David), Julie Barningham (Knitter) and Denise Lidbury (Kung Fu)

on your creativity and skill.

After all that excitement, there was the traditional visit from Santa Claus who gave each member a gift.
