Stormwater upgrade on Beach Road

Additional drainage pipes will be installed to capture and divert excess water runoff from Golf Links Road in Batemans Bay this month.

The extra stormwater pipes will run along the eastern side of Miller Street and across Beach Road to the Batemans Bay Marina. The work across Beach Road has been organised for the quieter period of the year to minimise inconvenience.

Traffic control will be in place during the construction period. Commuters should expect delays, with Beach Road open to only one lane in each direction and Miller Street only accessible from Golf Links Road. Pedestrians and cyclists should take care in and around the worksite, which requires removal of sections of the shared pathway and footpath.

The Batemans Bay stormwater upgrade, a planning priority, commences on Monday 19 August. There will be some night work to minimise disruption to traffic on Beach Road, and residents have been notified. All effort will be made to minimise worksite noise.

The upgrade is expected to be finished by November, weather permitting. The work to join with the Batemans Bay Marina requires the relocation of major underground services and environmental-protection measures put in place. Marina users should not be affected.
