Listeners to ABC South East radio on Friday Morning (May 29th 2020 time stamp 6:45mins ) were treated to hear the Member for Bega, Andrew Constance reveal in his interview with Sophie Longden that the site of the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital, scheduled for commencement in 2023, adjacent to the Moruya TAFE south of the Moruya CBD on the Princes Highway is "The site which is being looked at extensively is the site next to the Moruya TAFE". There has been much speculation around the choice of site since the announcement that the State Government had committed $150 million to the facility. General recent 'cafe' discussion held that the location of the site was tied to the location of the Moruya Bypass whilst other suggested it was at Bimbimbi, the Broulee turnoff or even down on George Bass Drive near Broulee. The site (as yet not formally confirmed) in South Moruya that the Member says is being looked at extensively (def... extensively /ɪkˈstɛnsɪvli,ɛkˈstɛnsɪvli/ ..to a large or detailed degree) makes sense to many who see the area as being above the flood plain, able to be plugged into existing water, sewer and electricity networks and most importantly central to the Eurobodalla shire to deliver equity of access across the region. While it is understood that the Clinical Services Plan is soon to be officially endorsed there is still a long road ahead until the services deliverable by a Level 4 hospital can be delivered. As the hospital services a considerable area of the Eurobodalla Shire it is expected that those in the Federal seat of Eden Monaro south of the Tuross River will be applying pressure to candidates for recognition of the promised State funding of $150 million. It is not forgotten that $25 million has been committed by Federal Labor towards a new state-of-the-art Eurobodalla Hospital. #ONE Eurobodalla Hospital" Will we see this matched by the current Liberal Government as an election cherry for Eurobodalla voters?
