Steve Johnston Returns to Form With Fine Win at Tuross Vets Golf

Despite light rain overnight and the threat of more during the morning a good field of 67 players registered for this week's Tuross Head Veterans Golf Single Stableford event. Winner on the day was Steve Johnston returning to form with a fine score of 25 points. Steve beat home Herb Muriwai and Rob Nash on 24, with the former winning the count back, and Chris Wratten on 23, after another count back was required. Minor prizes were won by Neil Mather, Frank Pomfret and Barry Hoban on 23, Greg Thornton, Blaise Madden, Ross MacAlpine and David Williams on 22, Peg Nevett, Don Russell, Kathy Crossling, Greg Bush, Tony Crook, Steve Collins, Derek Hoare and Allen Lee all on 21, with a 10 way count back to determine the last group. Solveig Olsson was the unfortunate winner of the Bradman award this week.
