Local Rugby Union is now well prepared for the coming season with the draw finalised and competition games to commence Saturday 17th April 2021.

The competition will again be known as South Coast Monaro Rugby with a number of new teams welcomed into the 10 team draw. Its great to welcome Bermagui Cobargo Sharks back after an absence of approx. 10 years. Bermagui Cobargo Rugby were dominant in the early 2000”s winning 4 first grade premierships and there pre-season training and trial games suggest they will again be very competitive.

Crookwell “Dogs” return after sitting out 2020 due to concerns around COVID. The Dogs won the competition 2019 and everyone is eager to see if most players return. Other teams joining the competition are Cooma “Red Devils” & Hall “Bushrangers”. Both these teams have been playing the Monaro Division 1 competition for a very long time but now only have the numbers for one team. Unfortunately Broulee “Dolphins” have withdrawn from the competition this season. Although they had been making steady progress over past couple years they couldn’t muster the numbers required for a long season.

Round 1 of the competition is eagerly awaited with some interesting first up games. Batemans Bay “Boars” will host Hall “Bushrangers” at Hanging Rock Oval. It’s the Boars 40th birthday this year and they would love to start the year of celebrations with a win. Braidwood “Redbacks” will travel to Bungendore to play their traditional rivals the “Mudchooks”. The Mudchooks will still have a number of suspended players unavailable and this may give Braidwood an edge. Other games include Taralga “Tigers” hosting Cooma “Red Devils” and Crookwell “Dogs” starting with a home game against last years Grand Finalists Jindabyne “Bushpigs”. Both Bermagui Cobargo “Sharks” and Yass “Rams” have a first round bye. Bermagui “Sharks” first game will be following week against Batemans Bay @ Bermagui.

The season is scheduled to finish Grand Final day 21st August.

A copy of the season draw is below and also available through the free app RugbyXplorer that also has “live” scores throughout the season.
