South Coast Careers College delivering outstanding results

A recent survey conducted by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) reports that South Coast Careers College are delivering outstanding results in our region. The survey showed that while 33% of their students were employed before commencing studies, 100% of students contacted after completing their course with the college had gained employment. The report compared this with other education providers averaging only 48% employment after studies were completed.

South Coast Careers College CEO Sarah Watterson told the Beagle "At the College, we believe in people so that they can believe in themselves and bring about positive change. We create a safe place for people to explore their potential and change their lives". "It’s due to the hard work and dedication of our management and staff that South Coast Careers Colleges continues to provide quality education programs more than 35 years after the first course was held in Batemans Bay."

"The College gives students access to fully qualified and experienced teaching staff, along with support staff for any extra assistance that may be needed. In all three campuses (Batemans Bay, Ulladulla and Merimbula) the focus is on building and nurturing positive relationships between students, trainers and College staff.

South Coast Colleges is the leading community services and health training provider on the South Coast, and offering Industry endorsed ‘taster’ programs. Students attend all face to face classes. One of the Industry endorsed programs is My Care Career, which is an introduction to the Community Services industry and teaches students what to expect when working in the community services industry. "In contrast to other education providers, South Coast Colleges also provides learning resources to their students and courses are designed to minimise the amount of work outside the classroom. This means that the course delivery may appear to be longer than other education providers, but, it also means that the College achieves better completion rates and outcomes", said Ms Watterson.

South Coast Careers College offers Community Services qualifications such as Certificate III in Individual Support, Certificate IV in Disability and Certificate IV in Ageing Support (which is also a Pathways to University program). They are also the first Community College in Australia to be accredited to deliver the Diploma of Nursing, an achievement all staff are extremely proud of.

South Coast Careers College has campuses in Batemans Bay, Ulladulla and Merimbula, and can be contacted on 02 4472 9202 or via the website
