MACBETH

Under the setting sun, in the grounds of the beautiful Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden, Essential Theatre takes you on the thrilling and dark journey that is Shakespeare’s Macbeth.

“Fair is foul, and foul is fair”

Eurobodalla Shire Council are proud to bring Essential Theatre back to the Botanic Garden for a magical night in their 18th summer of touring Shakespeare's classics. These passionate theatre makers re-interpret the classic texts for modern audiences, delivering vibrant and engaging productions. Whether you’re new to the work of Essential Theatre or a regular audience member you are guaranteed a night to remember.

In a time where people are hooked on Game of Thrones and Black Mirror, where political ambition drives decisions at any cost, Essential Theatre take it back to where it all began. Macbeth promises to be raw, edgy and entertaining.

Tempted by the prophecies of three mysterious witches, and encouraged by his power hungry wife, Macbeth will do anything to be King. He is quickly lead into a nightmarish world of evil and deceit as he tries to murder his way to the throne of Scotland. Shakespeare’s rousing tragedy is filled with ferocious battles, supernatural horrors, stunning language, and some of the Bard’s most vivid characters.

Macbeth is an outdoor picnic performance.

The Garden is a No-Bin Zone. Please take away all you bring with you.

In case of rain you will be notified of a change of venue to Batemans Bay High School.
