Shakespeare fix in ‘one fell swoop’

Theatre fans are in for a treat when Essential Theatre returns to the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden this summer to present one of Shakespeare’s most famous, and quotable, tragedies – Macbeth.

Fans of Game of Thrones and Black Mirror can binge on the five acts of this original raw and edgy political drama as the sun goes down and the witches come out to play. Eurobodalla Council’s arts coordinator Indi Carmichael said tickets are on sale now for the Saturday 18 January 2020 show.

“Tempted by witchy prophesies and encouraged by his power hungry wife, Macbeth does what it takes to become king,” Ms Carmichael said of the rousing tragedy, filled with battles, supernatural horrors, stunning language and some of the Bard’s most vivid characters.

“It’s certainly the case that ‘something wicked comes this way’ when we welcome back Essential for their fourth performance here.

“The Garden is the perfect setting for Shakespeare. So bring along a picnic basket and a bottle of plonk and share in “the milk of human kindness’ that is a good evening out,” she said.

“Previous shows have sold quickly, so get online and secure your tickets.”

Macbeth plays at the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden on Saturday 18 January 2020. Gates open at 5.30pm for a 6.30pm performance.
