The shire’s residents should be aware of a current scam involving a caller claiming to be from Eurobodalla Council and asking for payment details on overdue rates.
Although rates notices are about to be issued, Council staff do not contact ratepayers by phone to request payment.
Anyone receiving a call or voicemail requesting rates payment details should take note of the number and hang up. Suspected scams can be reported at the Australian Government’s ScamWatch website www.scamwatch.gov.au
