RSL NSW Calls on Australians to Show Their ANZAC Spirit

RSL NSW is encouraging all Australians to honour the service and sacrifice of our brave servicemen and women past and present, but in a different way than we are used to.

“Traditional dawn services and marches are just not possible this year” said RSL NSW Acting State President, Ray James. “But during these difficult and uncertain times, it is vital that we stay true to our values of mateship and camaraderie; that we honour our service personnel and show our ANZAC Spirit.”

Ray James also echoed the comments of RSL Queensland State President, Tony Ferris, saying “the qualities evoked by the ANZAC spirit – ingenuity, humour, endurance, courage and mateship – were more important than ever in times of uncertainty”.

In support of these qualities, RSL NSW is joining other State Branches of the RSL in encouraging Australians to stand together even though we’re apart, by taking part in a collective Dawn Service, standing at the end of your driveway or on your balcony at 6am on ANZAC Day.

In addition, RSL NSW is encouraging Australians to tune into the nationally televised service from the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, and will facilitate a 10am televised, virtual and streamed closed service.

Echoing the sentiment of RSL Victoria CEO, Jamie Twidale CSM, Ray James said, “ANZAC Day will be commemorated and the ANZACs will not be forgotten”.
