An estimated crowd of 60 Eurobodalla locals gathered in Moruya on Saturday at the bell ringing tower of St John’s Anglican Church to call for fair dinkum climate action.
Those gathered said they wanted to amplify similar calls across the globe calling on the many nation COP26 Conference of Parties, occurring in Glasgow, Scotland, to deliver 2030 emission cuts to keep global warming to 1.5 degrees.
Reverend Linda Chapman called on the crowd to resist the Australian government "making us mean and small". Rather, the Reverend called on the bell ringers and community "to pursue effective climate action with conviction, clear mind, respect, integrity and love - for humanity and creation".
The ringing of the church bell, heard across moruya, rang to mark the solemn urgency for real climate action as it had back in 2015 when COP21 Paris was held.
350 Eurobodalla organisers thanked everyone who attended and especially Rev. Linda Chapman for her considered and activating message.
