The Morrison Government has now released the Princes Highway Corridor Strategy outlining priority areas including the Milton-Ulladulla Bypass and interchanges at Jervis Bay and Nowra.
However the Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips MP, has been left asking “where is the money?” after no new funding or detail was included.
Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips, said today "During the recent Federal election, the Liberal-National Government committed $500 million towards the Princes Highway, including $400 million for the Milton-Ulladulla Bypass."
Only $50 million of this has been allocated in the forward estimates and the Gilmore MP has been lobbying to have the additional funds brought forward.
“We have known about the problems along the Princes Highway on the South Coast for years. We know where the hot spots are and it is great that the government is prioritising these,”
“But we don’t need another strategy telling us what we already know – what we need is the funds and a timeline to get it done,” Fiona Phillips said.
“I have long been calling on the Minister to bring forward the funding for the Princes Highway to help save lives and create more local job. I have said many times that I am willing to work with all levels of government to achieve this and I will continue to offer that,”
“We don’t need more words, more strategies and more plans on the highway – we need to fix it faster,” Mrs Phillips said.
