Our Local Wires Branch Needs Your Help.

Our local wildlife WIRES branch is in desperate need of help .

Cairperson Sandy Collins told the Beagle “The pressure on our wildlife due to the drought and lack of rain in the Eurobodalla has enormously increased the number of babies needing care. This care is expensive and needed over a long time. This is particularly the case for our eastern grey kangaroos and wallabies.”

“Because feed is scarce, kangaroos and wallabies are being drawn to the side of roads to fed” said Sandy .

“As a result, mothers are being hit by vehicles so more and more joeys have come into care. All of our joeys have got to be slow released in an enclosure. We have areas to release but not the money or materials to build the enclosures”.

“This is where we need our community's help. An enclosure costs around $4000 to build and we need money or donated materials to build two. The area fenced is large and the wire fence is 2.5 metres high. The enclosure also needs shelter and shade cloth. We are looking to build enclosures similar to what is depicted in the photo below”.

Please help us build these enclosures by donating money or materials to give these little joeys a chance at life. “Without our community's help we are at a loss of what to do as all avenues for soft release have been exhausted” said Mrs Collins.

WIRES is a voluntary organisation depending on the generosity of the local community and its volunteers. Monetary donations can be donated by visiting www.wires.org.au stipulating Mid South Coast Branch.

To donate needed materials please contact WIRES member Kevin on 0407684277. Please help us help our little joeys.

COMMENTS : Due to the risks associated with comments from unidentified contributors that expose The Beagle to possible legal actions under the NSW Defamation Act 2005 No 77 anonymous or Nom de Plume comments will not be available until an alternate system of author verification can be investigated and hopefully installed.

Those contributors KNOWN to us and verified may continue to use their First Name for ease. The primary need for all of this is due to traceability should a legal action arise.
