Operation South Coast kicks off

South Coast Distribution Logistics Team & Convoy Missions Australia have launched a collaboration named Operation South Coast to provide aid to residents affected by the bushfires on the NSW South Coast.

Mathew Hatcher of the South Coast Distribution Logistics Team said "With fires continuing to rage across NSW, our community has dug deep to put together donations for our fire affected communities. While this has been greatly appreciated, there are very few warehouses and locations available on the coast where donations can be sorted and distributed at the rate they are arriving from out of area.

"And while our first preference is for communities to support local businesses, we understand that some people have already purchased donations and are searching for places that will accept these donations.

"Consolidating donations from Convoy Missions Australia warehouses out of the shire has taken some of the pressure off the local communities trying to sort through the truckloads of donations that have arrived over the past few weeks.

"Our first delivery of donations will be Monday 13 January 2020 at approximately 6:00PM at Mackay Park opposite the Batemans Bay Visitor’s Centre, Batemans Bay."

Andrew Trieu of Convoy Missions Australia told The Beagle "Once sorted, they will be delivered to the Australian Army to be distributed where needed in the Eurobodalla region. Future missions will include consolidating into care packages that will be made available to community groups, not for profit organisations, and care workers to deliver to families and vulnerable community members.

"We will be providing opportunities for communities unaffected by the bushfires to provide meaningful assistance to communities that have, we ask that you be patient with us whilst we collect, consolidate, and deploy donations to where they are needed most." said Mr Trieu.
