Operation of the 11.45am and 2.20pm daily lifts of the BBAY bridge span suspended indefinitely

Motorists are advised of changed traffic and maritime conditions on and around the Princes Highway at Batemans Bay Bridge after an oversized vehicle made contact with the bridge structure earlier today.

Operation of the 11.45am and 2.20pm daily lifts of the bridge span have been suspended indefinitely for safety reasons, blocking access for taller boats until further notice.

Inspections of the structure to determine whether any repair work is required will take place tomorrow night.

A single lane closure will be in place on the Batemans Bay Bridge between 6pm Wednesday 11 March and 6am Thursday 12 March.

Access will be maintained for northbound and southbound vehicles via traffic control and motorists are advised to add an additional five minutes to their journeys.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

Inspections are not being carried out today as traffic on the Princes Highway is heavier than usual due to visitors from Victoria and the ACT, for whom Monday was a public holiday.

Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
